Home to Texas is the second book in the J.D. Wilkes trilogy, picking up from J.D.’s recuperation in his Mississippi home and his plans to build a ranch in Texas. But life isn’t so easy in Texas, either with hostile neighbors, Commanche and Apache renegades marring not only the trails, but even the homestead and the Reconstruction government even adds a little bit of spice to life.
